  1. In a stand mixer, combine all dy ingredients using the dough hook until well mixed.
  2. Warm milk and butter together on a low heat until the butter is melted.
  3. Add milk to spice mix in a slow stream, followed by the eggs.
  4. Using the dough hook on low-med speed, knead the dough for 5-7 mins until elastic and soft.
  5. Remove dough, lightly oil the bowl and place dough back in. Cover with cling film or a damp towel and allow to prove for 40 mins in a draft free place.
  6. Pre-heat oven to 200°c fan forced.
  7. Gently form the dough into a log about 8cm thick and cut into 12 even pieces.
  8. Roll each piece into a ball and nestle together in an oiled pan big enough to have about 2 cm between each one.
  9. Let your buns prove for another 30 mins covered until they've almost doubled in size.
  10. Baste your buns with a light egg and milk wash.
  11. Combine flour and water and whisk until smooth. You don't want it too runny or too thick.
  12. Pipe lovely hearts, x's and o's onto your buns.
  13. Bake for 30 mins until they are a deep, golden brown.
  14. Eat with your love bunnies while still warm with lots of butter.
